Pile trees:
Disallow LARGE piles; i.e. size of a house!
Insist on small piles; i.e. 10’ H by 20’-25’ radius
When to burn?
Spring – grass is green & full of water;
When wind is LOW
Summer – ONLY if recent rain & wind is LOW
Fall & winter – No!. Dead grass will burn because it’s HOLLOW. Rain doesn’t matter! Surrounding grass will BURN & embers catch more grass on fire.
Manage burning pile!
After big flames die down, push logs & debris toward the middle (tractor or manually with a rake)
Keep working pile until it’s gone
Add any leftover stuff to another pile.
